My 4 favourite park locations - with Toronto Photographer, Tegan Monaco

Updated: Mar 22

Toronto has so much to offer with all of our beautiful parks!

I love it when a family books a session and has a favourite park they want to photograph at because it's special to them.

Want to see some outdoor portraits from recent sessions?

If it's a new park location to me, I take the time before my photo-shoot to visit & explore the surroundings, and plan out my top spots to bring them to. This helps save time and get the best photos!

If you're looking for the perfect Forest background....

1. James Gardens

A new bridge along the forest trails and very beautiful in the spring with all of the planted flower beds among the 100 year old trees. I personally love all the shade and private areas to take your photos.

This park does get busy at mid-day and I would recommend choosing a photo session time early morning or late afternoon to make it a stress-free experience.

2. West Deane Park Trails

This park has the most amazing endless private trails where you may not see another person for a long time. Tons of greenery, forest backdrops and pathways to take the perfect photograph.

It's nice you can plan your session based on your schedule, and not have to worry about the park getting too busy. I know all the secret routes and often have my Fall mini-sessions here for the ideal backdrop.

If you're interested in a location by the lake

3. Humber Bay Shores

Beautiful paved paths all the way around the lake with nice picnic spots to enjoy & relax along the way. If your kids need an activity to take a photo break, they can skip rocks along the lake.

Nice private paths that do get busy by early afternoon - ideal park to photograph first thing in the morning or at sunset.

4. Sam Smith Colonel Park

This park has been a new found treasure right here in Etobicoke - beautiful greenway, pathways to the lake and a private landscape to enjoy.

During the Spring to Fall season, it's a beautiful park with so much to explore. With a marina along the path, it's a great place to explore with your kids and photographed in a beautiful landscape.
